Flattened sheets of cowhorn, thicknessed to 3mm with a rough finish. These can be sanded and polished further to give a translucent sheen (see the second picture, and the horn piece at the front of the first picture). These sheets of cowhorn can be used to make lantern plates (lant-horns) horn combs, and other historic artefacts.

Sizes vary, and may be 3" wide and 12" long, or 4" wide and 9" long. Some pieces have an area of dark tinted horn at one end. Contact us if you have special requirements for a project, and we'll try and get the best pieces for the job.

These are made from camel bone, and can be used in restoration/conservation, or for making bone combs, tablet weaving cards, or knife scales. If ordering for knife making, you may want to order two - they're quite uniform in colour so any two will be a good match. They will sand and finish really well, giving a high sheen and polish.

They measure 1 1/2" (38mm) x 5 1/4" (135mm). They are 4mm thick, but can be supplied in thinner slabs (e.g. 2mm). Out of stock but more can be ordered in.
